What could be the world's most expensive wallpaper made of? Of money,
obviously! I just came across an interesting post about the Money Pubs
in the US where money is being put on the walls, dollar bill by dollar
bill. The two money pubs mentioned are the No Name Pub that started in
1931 in Big Pine Key, FL as a general store and the McGuire's Irish
Pub that opened in 1977. In the 70's and 80's, the No Name Pub became
widely famous because of Jimmy Buffet popularity. People started
coming and so their money and that money started being put on the
walls, dollar bill by dollar bill. The thirty year results can be seen
in the pictures. Startlingly, there is over $750,000 in singles
hanging on the walls and from the ceiling.

 


On the other hand, McGuire's Irish Pub has an interesting story with
money wallpapers. Molly, the Pub's first waitress, took her first
dollar tip and stapled it on the wall. Since that day, there has been
over $550,000 in dollar bills stuck on the walls and ceiling. The best
thing is that these dollar bills have been artistically stuck on the
walls and ceiling.

personally i could never eat or drink there i dont think. Can you imagine how many hands ONE dollar bill had been through before reaching its final resting place at one of these pubs. Not exactly germ friendly...ugh gives me the creeps :S

On a side note, I do agree with everybody who is posting about how opulent this is... that's $550,000 that could be used to help a social cause, or an oppressed people... it's cool as art but...

The value of the dollar has gone down so much that it probably won't be worth much by the time they decide to throw it all in a bank. My suggestion, use Euros instead to decorate the walls with!

I went to the Jummy Buffet place in Cancun and the had the walls like that. There was this drunk tourist grabbin money off the walls so some staff came up and slammed dude and was kickin him , then they threw him out. It was wild, one of my favorite moments from the trip cuz I was laughing so hard.

There is a restaurant called "69" in Chinatown (near Mott St.) in NY that is completely covered with $1 bills too.. Not sure where they took that idea, maybe from the Jimmy Buffet restaurant

McGuire's is in my hometown of Pensacola. Go check it out. The dollars are inches thick on the ceiling. The pictures here don't do it justice at all. McGuire's is also home to a very strict "Guys Night" where the men drink for cheap.
Also, someone already did try to rob it of the dollars. The bank became suspicious of the transaction, though, because every single one of the bills is signed by the person that posted it.
Beyond that, McGuire's is a very good, award-winning steakhouse and pub with homemade brews.
